We fix garage doors and openers for houses in and around Oshkosh. Work We Turn Down
We don't do new home construction garage door installs as a general contractor line item, we're set up for repair and replacement on doors that already exist, not building shells. If a door is original to a house built before the newer building code requirements took hold and the whole frame is out of square, sometimes the honest answer is a full replacement rather than another patch repair, and we'll say so instead of billing you for a temporary fix.
Given how much of the housing stock here dates to the 1960s and 70s, we see a fair number of doors where the opener has outlived its useful life and any bracket we install is only going to load up an old track that's due to fail next. In cold-climate housing like this, insulation and seal condition matter more than they do in milder regions, and if a door's insulation has failed we'll tell you that a repair won't solve the draft problem, only a new door will.
We also don't guess at parts over the phone for openers we haven't seen. Some housing in this area has non-standard brackets from decades-old installs, and ordering the wrong part wastes your time and ours.

Will you always recommend a repair over a full replacement?
