Repeated freeze-thaw over a season works screws loose in framing that's decades old, and a track that's even slightly loose at one bracket will let the door walk during every open-close cycle until it jumps. We also see salt and grit tracked in on tires during winter driving work into the bottom roller bearings faster than in milder climates, which speeds up wear on original equipment.
